Membership & Trophy Criteria:
BREAKDOWN OF MEMBERSHIP FEES
&
LEVY
The membership fees are broken down in the following manner:
PCAQ INSURANCE for a riding member $ 40.00
PCAQ INSURANCE for a non riding member $ 10.00
Club Newsletter posted each month $ 15.00
Balance of membership goes towards clubs affiliation fees
(EG BEC affiliation fee – paid on your behalf $500-00 per club) $ 15.00
LEVY FEE
All new members $ 50.00
Carried over year to year – refundable by written request if
Hours are completed annually. If working bees/canteen hours are not
Completed each year, those members will be required to pay another levy
$ 50.00
The levy was designed to be held by the club for those members who do not attend working bees/canteen hours. The levy was set to encourage you, the member, to be involved within the club, because without members and their contributions the grounds and equipment cannot be maintained.
The $50.00 levy, if forfeited, is used to purchase or hire equipment and materials to continually upgrade the equipment and grounds. If working bees/canteen hours are met, you are entitled to a refund of your Levy fee or carry it over to the following year.

MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA
1. Compulsory Working Bees /Canteen
16 hours required
It is the responsibility of the Member to ensure the correct hours are recorded on the day and signed off in register
Hours can be accredited in the following ways, e.g:
ü building of jumps
ü painting
ü building of sporting equipment
ü designing and building cross-country jumps
ü setting up of events for Hunter Trails, Gymkhanas, ODE’s, Sport Days etc.
Canteen - A roster system will be implemented by the Canteen Convenor 2 days per family)
IF FOR SOME REASON YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND THE ABOVE DAYS, PLEASE CONTACT A COMMITTEE PERSON
On all Club days, the participation in setting up and packing up or any other jobs allocated, is an extra requirement.
2. Muster Attendance
2.1 To be eligible for any/all trophies or awards, 3 Musters must be completed on the BPC grounds in the current calendar year, not including points days.(in addition, all working bees and other criteria as set out in this document, must be met.
2.2 Presentation Points will be awarded to Riders/Horses on selected Muster Days.
3. Points Days/Ribbon Days (intra-club days)
Riders are required to wear muster or formal uniform.
4. Trophies
Trophies (awarded due to points accumulated) Riders Over 26 years (Seniors) and led Riders only included where specified. The requirements of 2.1 must be met.
NOTE : The individual rider has the responsibility to ensure that points are recorded by the designated person when competing at outside events within 7 days
**Even if not placed rider needs to confirm attendance to qualify for end of year trophy
4.1 Presentation Trophy – 1st place only
( 6 years and under, led included)
Criteria – 50% Horse - Cleanliness, grooming and presentation
25% Rider – Dress Standard
25% Tack - Presentation, cleanliness, fitting
4.2 Encouragement Awards (numbers as required)
Criteria – Presented to members up to age 18 years for muster attendance
4.3 Brian Gill Perpetual Trophy (Best All Round Performance)
One only - overall highest points on Points Days. Accumulated points obtained from Club records.
Criteria –
a. To be eligible for this trophy, the requirements at 2.1 must be met.
b. All points days must be attended.
c. The same horse must be ridden on all of these days unless there is a legitimate reason
eg. Horse has been sold (receipt required)
Death/illness (Vet certificate required)
4.4 Gymkhana Highest Points Overall Perpetual Trophy
9 years to 26 years 1st Female & 1st Male
Criteria - Accumulated points obtained from Club Records
4.5 Gymkhana Boy or Girl Highest points overall trophy
8 years and under (no led riders)
4.6 Gymkhana Rider Class/Highest Points Trophy - 1st only
4.7
Criteria – Accumulated points obtained from Club records
4.7 Gymkhana Jumping Class/Highest Points Trophy - 1st only
Criteria – Accumulated points obtained from Club records
4.8 Gymkhana sporting class/highest points trophy - 1st only
Criteria – Accumulated points obtained from Club records.
4.9 Most Successful 1st Year Competitor - 1st only
Criteria – Accumulated points obtained from Club records. Points are obtained by competing at outside events regardless of which Zone. Except Gymkhana points only taken in Zone 26 Must be 1st year of outside competion. ( includes children 1st year off lead but excludes 6 years and under children being led).

Criteria – Accumulated points obtained from Club records
All above disciplines from 4.4 to 4.16 are awarded points on the same horse/rider combination ie if 2 or more horses are used, points are accumulated separately except in 4.6 gymkhana rider class. Minimum of 2 events must be attended for end of year trophy, one of which may be states. **Gymkhana points to be tallied from Zone 26 events only.
4.17 All Round Senior Rider Trophy - 1st Only
Criteria – Accumulation of points obtained from Club records, from all disciplines added together for an overall result.
5 Trophies (awarded due to Merit)
Selected by President and Instructors Panel
5.1 Encouragement Certificate – (Numbers as Required)
Criteria – To encourage those who have shown improvement in any or all of the following areas:
J Attitude
J Presentation
J Riding ability etc.
5.2 David Grieve Perpetual Trophy – Quiet Achiever - 1st only
Criteria – Awarded to the individual rider who is able to take directions, co-operates, listens and is able to achieve results in a quiet manner
5.3 Julie Young Perpetual Trophy – Best Cared for Pony - 1st only
Criteria – Awarded to the individual whom the committee considers most deserving based on their observations throughout the year re grooming, love and attention, respect etc. However, presentation points accumulated throughout the year will be taken into account when deciding this trophy.
5.4 Most Improved Rider Award - 1ST each group – 1st place only
Criteria – Awarded to the most improved riders, regardless of accumulated points.
5.5 Most Helpful Member Perpetual Trophy - 1st only
Criteria – Awarded to the member (riding or non-riding) who consistently volunteers before being asked, completes tasks when required, offers assistance/support etc.
5.6 President’s Perpetual Trophy - 1st only
Criteria – The President shall have absolute discretion as to the awarding of this trophy. It can be awarded to a person/persons riding or non-riding. However, an explanation MUST be offered at the presentation as to why the recipient is receiving the trophy.
5.7 Peter Flannery Perpetual Trophy - Best Pony Club Spirit Trophy - 1st only
Criteria : Awarded to the individual by the Committee and Instructors who consider the most deserving based on their observations throughout the year regarding encouragement, helpfulness, etc.
THE MAIN REASONS FOR PONY CLUB
J To encourage young people to ride and learn all kinds of sport connected with horses and riding
J To provide instruction in riding and horsemanship, and instil in members the proper love and care of their animals
J To promote the highest ideals of horsemanship, citizenship and loyalty, thereby cultivating strength of character and self-discipline
SOME EVERYDAY RULES
1. No-one may ride at a Pony Club function without the approved helmet – AS 3838 and approved smooth soled, elastic sided, low healed boots (riders 17 & over top boots optional). This rule applies to EVERYONE, no matter who they might be. All riders must be financial.
2. No-one may leave their group or grounds without permission from their Instructor. When leaving the grounds, The President, Secretary or Chief Instructor should be notified.
3. All riding across the grounds must be at a WALK, ensuring the safety of others and no disruption to other groups.
4. Any abuse of horse, bad language or disrespect to Instructors or other persons on the grounds will be dealt with at Committee level. This includes Horsemasters helping or giving instruction and/or supervision, as well as any visiting Instructors. THIS CLUB STANDS BEHIND ITS INSTRUCTORS.
5. You are required to be in correct and complete control of your horse at all times.
6. Red tail ribbons must be worn by those horses that have a tendency to KICK. It is the responsibility of both owners and riders to be aware of this situation and ride accordingly.
7. All horses/ponies must be kept away from the canteen area.
8. For safety reasons, NO DOGS ALLOWED, this is a Caboolture Shire Council regulation
9. Whip abuse rules are upheld at our Club.
10. Riders 16 years and under must have a parent or guardian present at all times whilst on the BPC grounds
We as a Club are part of our State Body, PCAQ, and have to abide by their Rules, as well as our own. A copy of all Rules and Regulations Booklets can be purchased from PCAQ through the Club Secretary for a cost of $5.50 each. They are a very useful and informative book, and we highly recommend the purchase of such.
We are also affiliated with the Burpengary Equestrian Centre Inc., so therefore have to abide by their rules also.
GENERAL RULES
Membership consists of:
1. Junior Members - Under 17 years (no voting)
2. Associate Members - 17 Years & Under 25 (voting)
3. Senior Members - 26 Years and Over (voting)
4. Social Members - Any age – non/riding
5. Life Members
TO RIDE AT ANY PONY CLUB MUSTER OR COMPETITION,
YOU MUST BE A FINANCIAL MEMBER
Transfers between Clubs
? You are requested to apply to your Club Secretary for the transfer forms, who will forward them to your prospective Club. Fees cannot be transferred from Club to Club. If transferring within Zone 26, you cannot compete for a period of 30 days from the date the transfer was requested. Transfers are binding for 6 months unless special circumstances apply. (PCAQ RULES).
UNIFORM MUSTER
? Brown low heeled, smooth soled elastic sided riding boots (under 17 years)
? Top boots – (Associates and Seniors only)
? Approved helmet AS3838 with chin strap (to be worn at all times when mounted)
? Dark brown jodhpurs
? White (or apricot) polo shirt
Burpengary Pony club endorses the sun Smart Policy as stated by PCAQ. Sun shades are available on request to the Committee
UNFORM FORMAL
? Same boots, helmet and jodhpurs as for muster
? Apricot long sleeved shirt
? Brown tie
? Brown Jodhpurs
IT IS COMPULSORY TO WEAR FORMAL UNIFORM
WHEN COMPETING AT CLUB COMPEITIONS
Uniforms can be ordered through the Club.
SADDLE BLANKETS
? Brown with Club badge (both available through the Club)
SADDLERY
A full account of Saddlery will be found in PCAQ Rules Book.
? Only dummy spurs are allowed (except in Campdrafting)
? Whips no longer than 75cm – must have a 5cmflapper on the end.
? No western, hackamores, racing bits, twisted snaffle bit which is not smooth or rounded
or any bit which has been altered
? Only Running or Irish Martingales allowed
? Stock saddles MUST have a surcingle as well as a girth
? No western saddles or half breed saddles with a horn
? All saddlery must be used in the way it was designed for
EQUIPMENT
? Gate must be kept shut and locked after leaving
? All equipment must be put away
? Any rails removed on the Cross Country must be replaced
? General respect of other rider using the facilities
LEASING HORSES/RIDING SOMEONE ELSE’S HORSE
As this can be involved, please see the Secretary before entering into any agreement. PCAQ have rules we must abide by.
Nominating for an event
Gymkhanas: Nominating for gymkhanas is done by one Club Official on the day of the event. You will be notified who this person is in the newsletter issued prior to the event. All nominations are to be paid to this person no later than 15 minutes prior to the nominated starting time on the day. Please try to have the correct money. Please make sure your overall appearance is neat at all times and be in full club uniform if you are being presented with a trophy.
March Past at Gymkhanas: You will need to assemble at a designated place (will be advised in newsletter) 30 minutes before commencement of the day when the riders will be formed into their sections. If you don’t participate in the March Past your end of day points will not be accepted by BPC. Remember to phone all results into the points person within 7 days of the event.
Back Numbers: The BPC now has it’s own back numbers. A fee of $20.00 will be charged to obtain a back number & refunded when returned in reasonable condition, at the end of the year.
MUSTERS
1st Saturday and 3rd Sunday of the month. Changes advised through Newsletters and Website www.burpengaryponyclub.com.au (February to November)
PCAQ PERFORMANCE CARDS
? If you wish to compete on an OFFICIAL LEVEL in any discipline, you MUST have a PCAQ CARD. (for each discipline, there is a different card)
? You apply for these through the Club Secretary (application form to be filled in)
? Fee is $5.50 per card

MEETINGS
Management Committee Meetings held 2nd Monday of the month, All members are welcome, but only Committee members may vote. 7.30 start at clubhouse
General Meetings held 4th Monday of each month, all members welcome start 7-30pm at clubhouse
